چکیده

Abstract Detonation is a shock-induced combustion in which chemical reactions are closely coupled with shock waves. The wave compresses the reactant an abrupt increase temperature and pressure, initiating reactants to be burnt into products. intense heat release permits high propagating speed of sustained. It fundamental research related both safety industry propulsion systems. For most explosive mixtures, detonation speeds formulated by Chapman–Jouguet (CJ) theory. Typical velocities for gaseous mixtures generally range from 1400 3000 m/s. Behind shock, time scale commonly on order microseconds or even less. Furthermore, front intrinsically unstable, forming transient multi-dimensional structures. Many studies revealed that resolution necessary resolve essential Due its complex nature multiple scales, thus challenging problem solvers shock-capturing capability, robustness, computational efficiency. This chapter will present several aspects applying CESE schemes.

Underdriven Oblique Detonations

Steady weak underdriven oblique detonations consisting of a lead shock attached to a solid wedge followed by a resolved reaction zone structure are admitted as solutions to the reactive Euler equations for eigenvalue shock wave angles. This is demonstrated for a fluid which is taken to be an inviscid, calorically perfect ideal gas which undergoes a two-step irreversible reaction with the first ...

Detonations in Hydrocarbon Fuel Blends

A study of detonations in high-molecular weight hydrocarbon fuels of interest to pulse detonation engine applications was performed in a 280 mm diameter, 7.3 m long facility. Detonation pressure, wave speed, and cell width measurements were made in JP-10 mixtures and in mixtures representative of the decomposition products of JP-10. Experiments were performed in vapor-phase JP-10 mixtures at 35...

Direct Simulation of Pathological Detonations

In previous papers we have demonstrated how the direct simulation Monte Carlo method can be used to simulate detonations. Those simulations were limited to exothermic reactions. In this paper exothermic and endothermic reactions are simulated. Under these circumstances, one obtains pathological detonations. That is, these simulations cannot be predicted using the well-known Chapman-Jouguet hypo...

Detonations in Hydrocarbon Fuel Blends

A study of detonations in high molecular weight hydrocarbon fuels was performed in two GALCIT facilities: the 280 mm gaseous detonation tube (GDT) and a 1180 liter vessel (HYJET) with jet initiation capability. In the GDT, detonation pressure, wave speed and cell width measurements were made in hexane-oxygen-nitrogen mixtures with and without the addition of lower molecular weight fuels. Stoich...
